What Can Brain Chat Do?

Brain Chat uses AI to:

Chat Modes

Brain Chat has two modes you can switch between:

• Search Mode (default) - Searches your notes and provides answers with citations
• Chat Mode - Direct AI conversation without note context, like a general assistant

AI Actions

Tell Brainstream what you want in plain English:

Task Actions:

• "Remind me to call John tomorrow"
• "I finished the grocery shopping"
• "Change the deadline for my report to Friday"
• "Delete the old meeting task"
• "Complete all my overdue tasks" (bulk action)

Note Actions:

• "Create a note about today's meeting"
• "Add the work tag to my project notes"

Always in Control

Every action can be undone with one tap:

• Created a task by mistake? Tap undo
• Completed the wrong task? Tap undo to reopen it
• All changes are reversible

Destructive actions like deleting tasks always ask for confirmation first.

Daily Brief

Every morning, receive a summary of:

• Yesterday's notes - Key themes and ideas you captured

Your daily brief arrives at your preferred time (default 7 AM).

Weekly Brief

Every Monday, get a comprehensive view of:

• Weekly themes - Major topics that emerged

In Settings, you can:

Creating Tasks

Create tasks in multiple ways:

• From Brain Chat - "Remind me to call the dentist tomorrow"
• From a note - Add tasks directly linked to a note
• From the Tasks screen - Quick add with the + button
• AI Extraction - Let AI find tasks in your notes

Task Properties

Each task can have:

• Title - What needs to be done
• Due date - When it's due (optional)
• Priority - Low, medium, or high
• Tags - Categorize with tags
• Linked note - Associate with a relevant note

Task Organization

Tasks are automatically grouped by:

• Overdue - Past due date
• Today - Due today
• This Week - Due within 7 days
• Later - Due further out
• No Date - Tasks without due dates

Completing Tasks

Mark tasks complete by:

• Tapping the checkbox
• Telling Brain Chat ("I finished the groceries")
• Bulk completing ("Complete all my overdue tasks")

Completed tasks can be undone if you change your mind.

Stuck Tasks

Brainstream identifies "stuck" tasks - items that haven't had activity in a while - and surfaces them so nothing falls through the cracks.

Adding Tags

Add tags to a note:

1. Open the note in the editor
2. Tap the tag icon
3. Type a tag name and press Enter
4. Add multiple tags as needed

AI-Suggested Tags

• Tap to accept or dismiss suggestions
• AI learns from your tagging patterns

Finding Tagged Notes

Use tags to filter and find notes:

• Tags screen - Browse all tags and their notes

Tag Types

1. Open a new or existing note

Automatic Transcription

Your voice recording is transcribed using OpenAI Whisper:

• Transcription appears in the note editor
• Edit the text as needed
• Original audio is saved as an attachment
• Voice transcription does NOT count against your AI quota

Connecting Your Calendar

1. Go to Settings
2. Find Calendar Integration
3. Tap "Connect Google Calendar"
4. Authorize Brainstream to read your calendar

Once connected, you can:

• View upcoming events in the Calendar tab

Scheduling Events via Brain Chat

Ask Brain to schedule events using natural language:

Brain creates a draft event that appears on the Today screen. Tap "Add to Calendar" to open it in Google Calendar where you can review and save it.

Privacy

• Brainstream reads your calendar and can suggest events
• Events are added to Google Calendar only when you approve them
• Event data is cached locally for offline access
• Disconnect anytime from Settings

How It Works

2. The email subject becomes the note title

Requirements

• Forward from the same email address as your Brainstream account
• Up to 50 emails per day (both Free and Pro plans)
• Supported attachments: images, PDFs, audio, documents

Email to Notes is perfect for:

• Newsletters - Save articles to read and reference later
• Receipts - Keep purchase confirmations organized

Tips

• Works with any email client (Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, etc.)

Privacy

Your emails are processed securely:

• Only emails from your registered address are accepted
• Email content is stored in your private Brainstream account
• We don't read, analyze, or share your email content beyond creating your note
